In the latest BDC (Business Development Bank of Canada) report to coincide with its 35th annual salute to small business week, five strategies for success in business are highlighted and Dollard des Ormeaux’s Yannick Fromagerie got a special mention for the company’s ability to adapt to client’s needs.

“The distance between our different stores made me realize that each neighbourhood had its own different tastes and requirements,” Yannick Achim, namesake of the company that boasts 20 employees in six different locations across the province told The Suburban. “When we moved out to DDO, I was forced to find new cheeses that corresponded to the various tastes of our clientele.

“The more we listen to our customers and the more we know about their preferences, the better equipped we are to respond to, and help create, new consumer trends around particular products,” noted Achim in the recent report.

The BDC’s five suggestions for a successful small to medium sized business is to continually innovate without resting on former successes, hiring the best possible employees and paying them a salary that encourages loyalty, building strong relationships with suppliers, seeking outside help from experts in the field and adhering to a plan.
