The events described in your article on the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board’s horrible year must not be ignored. The article describes much but there is a great deal more.
As a parent and a friend of staff members of one of the affected schools, I can tell you how dishonest the commissioners have been and the high lack of moral authority the commissioners have shown.
1) The assistant DG (the DG was on vacation) accidentally let slip out that this decision was a done deal even though the consultation process had not started.
2) They have from day one threatened the staff from all schools to remain silent or risk severe reprimand.
3) When the head of the Teachers’ Union posed an important question to the chair, the chairman decided to call security on him.
That is just the tip of the iceberg. There have been many important questions they have gone unanswered. The half truths and manipulation of facts are too many to list. I hope that there are enough parents like myself who read The Suburban that send their kids to this board. If so then, should you choose to follow up on this article, you will see how morally corrupt school board democracy is.
