Montreal City Council has passed a bylaw, by a vote of 35-25, that financially penalizes anyone who verbally insults a police office or any municipal employee: first offence fines of $300-$1,000; repeat offenders face fines up to $2,000.

1,500+ Quebec doctors are demanding a public inquiry into physician suicides, signing a letter to Quebec’s Chief Coroner which notes that five doctors have taken their lives recently and asks if professional, organizational or systemic factors contributed to what they did and asks if there are barriers in place that stop doctors from seeking help, such as concerns about confidentiality or a compromised right to practice.
