Canada’s Snowbirds flew over the Bell centre, as the anthems finished at last night’s game.

Premier Fréchette has removed the sales tax, effective July 15, on several grocery and pharmacy items, to help Quebecers deal with the rise in the cost-of-living: pre-cut fruit. vegetables, granola bars, salted nuts, tissues and toilet paper—a saving of $50 a year. Fréchette has cut $50 from the annual car registration fee for one year only. The Premier has also decided to give a one-time payment of between $100-$200 for low- to middle-income earners.

Serge Audette has been found guilty of manslaughter in the killing of 23-year-old Patricia Ferguson in 1996 in Pointe aux Trembles, following a Noovo Info documentary that raised questions about the original police investigation, which prompted Montreal police to look at the evidence again.

Shawn Batten from Montérégie has won $12,500,000 in the May 19 Lotto Max draw. He bought his ticket on the Loto Québec app. When he confirmed his win, he called his wife and told her but she thought he was kidding: “…. I’m in a meeting and all the team can hear you. You’re not joking right now, are you?” Batten picked up his symbolic cheque at the Casino de Montréal. He plans to continue working, but says that travel is definitely in the cards and that he will follow his new passion, photography, and maybe buy a cottage.
