Montreal police Chief Fady Dagher and the Montreal Police Brotherhood want the city to introduce a bylaw, banning insults against police officers and follow the lead of Quebec City. Laval. Longueuil and Sherbrooke that allows police to charge citizens for insulting police and other public officials and Mayor Martinez Ferrada says she is open to such a law.

Premier Fréchette says that U.S. President Trump’s new tariff threats on Canada is unjustified and concerning. Trump will impose a 50 per cent tariff on wine, hockey sticks, cement and hockey sticks. The Premier will bring up the matter to Prime Minister Carney at the premiers’ meeting this week, saying that this is the worst time to add a layer of instability to Quebec’s economy, when our businesses need predictability.
