Workers closed off the shoulders last week along Highway 13, day and night, while they work on installing guard rails along the median.
The construction will affect traffic along two sections of Highway 13, from Samson to Dagenais in Laval, and from Grande Côte (Highway 344) to Highway 640 in Boisbriand.
According to Transport Quebec, the work is slated to continue through to the start of November 2015.
“During rush hour, however, only partial restriction of the shoulders will be permitted,” Transport Quebec reassured in a statement.
The highway authority explained that the new infrastructure will replace weaker, semi-rigid crash barriers.
“These safety measures are aimed at protecting motorists when they reach the exit ramps,” Transport Quebec said.
