After the success of last winter’s trials, the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro will be using its Snow Alert protocols during winter storms that prohibit motorists from parking on streets allowing snow clearing trucks to have access to all streets to be cleared in a timely fashion.
Fines for non-compliance will be $40 per offence and the Snow Alert program will debut this week.
“Pleased with the success of the pilot project that we had launched last year, we have decided to integrate the “Snow Alert” to our snow clearing operations,” explained Pierrefonds-Roxboro Mayor Dimitros Jim Beis. Vehicles parked on streets during and after heavy snowfalls slow down considerably snow clearing operations. The snow alert will ask citizens to park their vehicles in their driveways during its duration which will be effective for one or a few days depending on the storm strength.
Thank you for being part of the solution that will allow us to accelerate snow clearing operations.”
