Residents of Pointe Claire, Dorval and West Island motorists in general will be inconvenienced with the closure of Sources Boulevard for repairs by Canadian National (CN) on the Hymus level crossing.

“The exact date of this closure, which will take place during a weekend, will be communicated in advance, as soon as it is known,” explained Dorval city spokesman Sébastien Gauthier. “Since this work will have a major impact on local traffic in the area, it was considered relevant to inform the population at this moment.”

“We will be notified one week before the work begins,” Pointe Claire Morris Trudeau explained via press release. “The work is being done by CN in cooperation with the cities of Pointe Claire and Dorval.

“We’re letting residents know right away because the work is scheduled for this fall and it will have a major impact on local traffic in this area,” noted the mayor.

The work is expected to take about 24 hours and will be done in one complete session.

“This work will improve the safety of the level crossing and the quality of the road surface, which will make driving easier and improve traffic flow,” explained Gauthier.

During the construction, detour signs will be visible to help drivers navigate around Sources which will be closed between Hymus Boulevard and Highway 40.
