The Dorval municipal chambers welcomed a sparse crowd Monday evening in calling to order the regular meeting at 8 p.m.
Mayor Edgar Rouleau opened proceedings in leading the room in prayer before the opening of question period.
De L’Église residents Mort Geller and Beverley MacPhee addressed council on the dangers of speeding in the neighborhood.
The suggestion of traffic calming was brought up, as this has had a positive effect on several municipalities across the country.
Traffic calming consists of a physical design and other measures, including narrowed roads and speed humps, put in place on roads for the intention of slowing down or reducing motor-vehicle traffic as well as to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
Resident, Mme Deschamps raised the issue of having additional public security measures during school hours, at John XXIII.
The council advised that Public security, with two vehicles, follows a schedule, and that any additional security should be made with the school, and local police department.
The mayor confirmed his meeting with Canada Post on the issue of home delivery. Dorval voted for continued weekly service, where the counter offer was two-three day delivery.
The final outcome has yet to be determined.
