2014 RBC Canadian Open

From July 24-27, Royal Montreal golf club hosted the Canadian open on the blue course.

The purse was a cool US$5,700,000 going to Tim Clark of South Africa. Clark stumbled out of the gate during the final round with a bogey on the opening hole, but rebounded with birdies on holes 6, 11, 12, 15 and 17 to post a final-round 5-under 65, good for a one-stroke victory over third-round leader Jim Furyk.

Musical nights outdoors in Beaconsfield

Music is a favourite on the warm weather menu in Beaconsfield, from battle of the bands to concerts in the park on Tuesdays, in Centennial park.

Some of the best music is showcased each week starting out with a Beatles night and going up from there. The water front park makes for an exceptional venue, it is simply breath taking to watch the sun set as these Beaconsfield picnickers did on July 22.

Montreal Press Club holds first West Island meeting

For the first time in it’s 66-year history, the Montreal Press Club met on the West Island, July 31.

“Journalists need a place where they can gather outside the boundaries of work and their individual respective news organizations,” said Montreal Press Club chairman Robert Frank.

The initiative was well attended by journalists from the city of Montreal as well as the West Island. It was a chance to put faces to the names of the people who write the news each week.

Journalists shared tips and tricks to better serve the public when reporting while sharing fun stories about their adventures.
Though it is a competitive business the opportunity to gather and put the pens down was appreciated by all.
