STL reduces rates for students just in time for summer

In an effort to achieve the long-term goal of reducing green house gas emissions by 50 percent by 2031 the Société de transport de Laval (STL) is launching its new program called XTRA.

The program will benefit students under the age of 18 (Oct. 31 of the current school year) as well as children 6-11 years old. Valid for the months of July and August, the new monthly rate will be $59.50 for the two months rather than $52 per month, representing a savings of $44.50.

The idea behind the initiative is to encourage young people to develop the habit of using public transit throughout the summer. With the ability to bring a bike along for the ride using the cyclo bus program, adolescents will be exposed to the service and continue to use it as adults.

Free for children on weekends, holidays and all summer long

The STL promotes an advantageous fare policy for families. On weekends and holidays as well as all summer long (from July 1 to Labor Day), all adults paying regular fare may be accompanied, free of charge, by up to five children under 12.
