Meet your new city councillor

“The campaign was incredible,” said Vasilios (Bill) Karidogiannis. “I enjoyed going door-to-door, meeting citizens and listening to what they had to say. Many underprivileged residents told me that I was the first politician to come and see them in many years.”
“It’s important to sit and listen,” the newly elected Abord à Plouffe city councillor told The Suburban. “Once you do, you start to figure out solutions to the problems that they relate.”
Karidogiannis enlisted the support of the district’s many cultural communities, including Greek, Armenian and Lebanese residents. He is also particularly interested in helping seniors in his district, which the 2011 census revealed has a higher rate of poverty than most of Laval.
“Snow clearance is an issue,” he said. “Many seniors asked for improvements to city snow crew procedures.”
City planning and cultural activities are of keen interest to Karidogiannis as well. He has vowed to work to beautify Abord à Plouffe’s neglected waterfront, and revitalize the business that line Labelle Blvd.
“I’m open and willing to work with all my opponents for the benefit of Abord à Plouffe residents,” Karidogiannis concluded. “I’ve already approached several of them. A good idea is a good idea. I’m very open-minded.”
