Vimont’s representative in Quebec City rose to speak during the second week of the provincial parliament’s latest session, Feb. 19.

Former Laval police officer and policeman’s brotherhood vice-president Jean Rousselle acknowledged a major milestone in the life of one of his constituents.

“Rosa Laricchiuta Campanella, who lives in my riding of Vimont, marked her 100th birthday, Jan. 22,” he noted. “A native of Conversano, Bari, Italy, in 1954 she came to Quebec, where she worked for more than 30 years in manufacturing—particularly in the garment industry.”

“A mother of six children—Clara, Maria, Jerry, Vetina, Joe and Rita—she is also grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.”

“Having lived the past 30 years with her daughter and son-in-law Vita and Constantino Dicristo, Mrs. Laricchiuta remains in great shape and looks forward to remaining that way,” Rousselle said.

“On Jan. 26, Mrs. Laricchiuta’s family and friends gathered at the reception hall of the Château classique to pay their respects with great tribute,” Rousselle continued.

“Today, it’s my turn to pay tribute to her and to wish her many more years of health and happiness in the company of her loved ones,” he concluded.
