Laval launches culture days

By Robert Frank

City executive committee member Jocelyne Guertin held a news conference, Sept. 11, to announce the advent of Laval’s 16th annual culture extravaganza, which will be held Sept. 28-30 this year. The Souvenir-Labelle city councilor will be this year’s patron of honour.

The city plans to give citizens a foretaste, of the upcoming festivities with a performance by a brass trio composed of members of the Laval Symphony Orchestra at Place Claude Léveillée, at the corner of de l’Avenir and Jacques Tétreault.

In addition, city hall plans to open its doors to the public with a history display and guided tours.

The André Benjamin Papineau cultural centre in Chomedey will stage a concert, an art exhibit and a sculpture workshop as well as the play Polyclinic, which will be followed by a get-together with the playwright and actors.

Both the Marius Barbeau library in St. Francis and the Philippe Panneton library in Laval west plan to offer a free Green Exchange, permitting library-goers to exchange their previously-read books with others.

In Sainte Rose, Eco-Nature is inviting the public to participate in a scientific familiarization with the Mille Îles river. Reservations are required.

Details are available in Laval libraries and on the culture page of the web site.
