In the wake of their gold win at a national band competition in Ottawa, two weeks ago, John Rennie High School’s young musicians gave up Saturday night, June 2, to play at a Montreal Children’s Hospital fundraiser in Lachine.

The jazz band performed at the Sticky Media warehouse in the industrial district of Lachine, during the charity event.

“It was a great experience for the youth,” enthused JRHS music director Craig Hodgson, “and their performance really enlivened the event, which raised some $5,000 to support the hospital.”

The high school’s Spring Finale concert, which is slated to take place tonight, was postponed after a Hydro Quebec power failure shut down the school on its May 22 concert night.
