Any Dorval residents with old paint cans, household cleaners that have passed their prime or old communication technologies like fax machines or cell phones that have been taking up much needed storage space can be disposed of safely this Saturday starting at 9 a.m. at the Ballantyne Park parking lot.

The free drop off is only for homeowners anxious to get rid of old engine or brake oil, disused propane tanks and antique VCRs, televisions, games and even microwaves without the risk of the old technology being tossed into a landfill.

This kind of waste, if disposed of improperly, “represents dangerous waste that contains heavy metals, such as cadmium, lead, and mercury, which contaminate the environment and are harmful to human health,” explained city spokesperson Sébastien Gauthier.
