A study published in the Journal of Cachexia is reporting that daily peanut butter consumption improves physical function in older people.

120 people, 65 and older took part in the study.

Half of them ate 43 grams of peanut butter every day for six months.

Participants were asked to stand up from a chair and sit down five times, as quickly they could.

The ones who ate peanut butter were quicker.

Muscle strength also increased slightly.

Participants did not gain weight, even though they consumed extra energy and protein from the peanut butter.
