Air Canada has suspended its passenger service to Cuba, citing a shortage of aviation fuel on the island.
The airline will send empty aircraft to pick up thousands of travellers and bring them home.
Projections are that as of February 10, aviation fuel will no longer be commercially available at the island’s airports.
Air Transat and WestJet intend to continue flights, despite the fuel shortage.
Cuba is in the midst of an energy crisis caused by the U.S. blockade of oil to the island.
