Local artisans and breweries will be ruling the roost in Hudson this weekend as Le Nichoir Wild Bird Rehabilitation Centre will be holding a free event on Hudson Mews to raise funds for a new aviary which will be built to house injured birds.

As well as selling supplies to keep the birds in your garden well-fed this winter, you’ll also be able to buy locally made foods and gifts.

The Rehabilitation Centre, located in Hudson, is dedicated to the proper care and treatment of injured and orphaned wild birds and releasing them back to their natural habitat.

Nancy Farnum, spokesperson for the event commented “Le Nichoir looks after all wild birds. Anything from storks, to ravens, to crows and robins. People bring in birds that have been injured, fallen out of a tree, or birds that have been caught by a cat, from as far as Montreal and the townships.”

The centre is run completely by volunteers and the event will allow the team to raise funds for a new aviary which will replace the century old barn which is currently used to house the birds.
Visitors will be entertained by a blue grass band while sampling the fayre from local food vendors, beer from a local brewery and all vendors will be donating a portion of their sales in donations to the centre.
There will also be a raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses and visitors will be able to stock up on everything they need to feed the birds this winter. The event will be held on 14th September from 11am-4pm and entry is free. For details on the event and more information on Le Nichoir visit www.lenichoir.org
