The Hellenic Scholarships Foundation
has announced the opening of its 2012-2013 scholarship competition.
The organization awards ten $2,000
scholarships each year to full-time Quebec
university students who have completed
their first year of studies.
Nine of the scholarships are granted to
Quebec residents of Hellenic descent. In
addition, the foundation offers a Hellenic
Studies scholarship that is open to any
Quebec student, regardless of origin, who
is currently enrolled in full time university studies of Hellenic language, history or
culture.
Chomedey’s recently re-elected representative in the Quebec legislature, Guy
Ouellette, has again this year sponsored
the Chomedey-Laval Hellenic scholarship,
which he has supported since 2008.
said the Liberal MNA, “provides me with
the opportunity to encourage a student
attending an institution of higher learning
in Quebec who is excelling in his studies.”
In addition to providing a two-page curriculum vitae, proof of enrolment and official transcripts, applicants are expected to
submit a 500-word essay outlining their
career objectives and their intended contribution “to Hellenism or to Canadian
society-at-large.”
