Podiatrist Rock Positano, co-director of the Non-Surgical Foot and Ankle Service at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, says that “…it’s unlikely your shoe size at age 20 is going to be the same at age 50.”
A large body of research has revealed that most people wear shoes that don’t properly fit their feet.
One landmark study has determined that, among 356 women examined, the majority were cramming their feet into ill-fitting footwear.
There’s a name for that; the Cinderella complex.
Some women wear too-small shoes, suffer foot pain—even deformities—and that can take a major toll on quality of life.
He says that ”…foot and ankle pain might not be life-threatening, but it certainly is lifestyle threatening.”
