Some 11,000 patients who are treated at the Hudson Medical Centre may see it close because of Bill 2, because the four doctors who set it up, “pay everything—employees, snow removal, rent and suppliers—but with two of them thinking about leaving, the remaining two can’t afford the expenses of the only such clinic in Vaudreuil-Soulanges.

The Quebec Association of Pharmacy Owners are taking the Legault government to court over Bill 2, joining a long list of medical groups and doctors who claim that the provisions of the law threaten their business models.

A number of Quebecers and a noted Ontario defence lawyer have been accused in the United States of orchestrating the murder of a witness set to testify against Ryan Wedding, a former Canadian Olympic athlete and a suspected global drug boss. The accused are Brampton lawyer Deepak Paradkar; 40-year-old Atna Ohna of Laval, Quebec; 31-year-old Edwin Basora-Hernandez of Montreal; 33-year-old Allistair Chapman of Calgary; 35-year-old Ahmad Nabil Zitoun of Edmonton; as well as 37-year-old Toronto resident Rolan Sokolovski; and the hunt is on for 32-year-old Rasheed Pascua Hossain of Vancouver and 35-year-old Tommy Demorizi of Montreal.

Hydro-Québec will cut power to 64,000 clients tomorrow night in Dollard des Ormeaux, Dorval, L’Île Bizard, Sainte-Geneviève, Kirkland, Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Pointe-Claire and Saint-Laurent tonight, to allow for major work on the Des Sources substation in Dollard. (9 p.m. Friday-6 a.m. Saturday)

Quebec and the rest of Canada have signed a trade deal that will allow tens of thousands of goods in 14 jurisdictions, to be traded interprovincially, a direct result of President Trump’s tariffs.

Montreal police are investigating a multi-vehicle road-crash that has killed a 62-year-old man and critically hurt a 20-year-old woman in Rivière des Prairies at the intersection of Sherbrooke and Réal Benoit.

Montreal police are investigating a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in Dollard at Salaberry and Sources that has left a 21-year-old man in critical conditoin in hospital. A 60-year-old driver is wondering how she didn’t see the man crossing the intersection.

A report this morning is warning about the danger of eating ultra-processed foods. Ready-made meals, sweet and savoury snacks, fizzy drinks and breakfast cereals are some of those foods and, according to The Lancet, are linked to dozens of health conditions: obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. University of Montreal nutrition professor Jean Claude Moubarac says that “the body is not adapted to those products which can affect our moods and lead to depression and anxiety.” In Canada, more than half the food that we buy is considered ultra-processed. He says the foods are designed to be tasty, convenient, appealing to the eye—as well as cheap—and designed to make consumers demand more and more.
