Last week, the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro released a graphic of what the new LEED library will look like once it is constructed and ready for readers.
The new structure will be extended from the existing library and gain more than 2,000 metres in length for the proposed $18 million project.
The bulk of the new building’s financing is coming from the city of Montreal and the provincial government with the remaining $4 million to be paid by the borough. Now that an architectural firm has been awarded the contract, the project’s next phase will be, according to a release by the borough, “the plans and specifications preparation process according to which the renovation and expansion work will be undertaken.”
For outgoing Mayor Monique Worth, the new library represents “many years of hard work and careful studies on actual and future needs, we have finally reached our objective to offer Pierrefonds-Roxboro citizens a 21st Century Library.”
