Longueuil police are hunting for the man who broke into a home on Roosevelt in St Hubert and beat up a 73-year-old woman, but did not hurt her son.

A 33-year-old woman has been released by police, after a newborn baby was found in a bus shelter in Longueuil and died, saying she is now receiving psychological-physical health care. Officers in the Longueuil police department admit to being shocked by the abandoning of two babies this Fall and are trying to figure out what’s going on. Quebec’s Health Ministry says women who find themselves in a crisis re: unwanted babies, have better options that abandonment:

• Contact Quebec’s youth protection department, ask workers to take the child;

• take the newborn to a hospital;

• call 911;

• contact a CLSC;

• ask someone in your family to help (if there is such a person);

• go to any community organization.
