Radio station Red fm–107.3, teamed up again this year with DeSerres stores to launch their seventh edition of the Dare to Give campaign to raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation of Quebec.
The drive, which lasts about four weeks ended May 18, invited Rouge FM listeners and the general public to donate old bras at designated locations. Every bra collected and brought to the DeSerres stores or to Red Fm represented $1 towards the charity. In addition to this DeSerres gave 3% of all sales throughout the entire weekend of April 25.
Since 2008, Dare to Give has collected almost a million dollars towards breast cancer and has become an annual tradition at Red fm.
This year some famous names got behind the cause. Seven men, representing each year Dare to Give exists, lent their names to help promote the cause. Those named as ambassadors were: Joël Legendre, Richard Turcotte, Matt Laurent, Benoit Gagnon, Frédéric Charpentier, Hugo Lapointe and Étienne Boulay.
Bras collected during the Dare to Givecampaign will be given to Renaissance, who will offer them at affordable prices through its Fripe-Prix network of community shops. Bras that cannot be re used will be given to Certex, a charity that collects and recycles used clothes, shoes and textiles.
