Laval’s regional soccer association has earned recognition, Nov. 30, for the quality of its work in 2013.
“The Quebec’s Soccer Federation disclosed during its Halftime Gala that it has named the Laval Regional Soccer Association Quebec’s regional soccer association of the year,” Jean Rousselle said in the National Assembly, Dec. 4.
“It has remained a dynamic presence within the community, bringing together Laval’s six soccer clubs,” Vimont riding’s elected representative told his fellow legislators. “Among the people I would like to congratulate for their excellent work are regional association president Bernard David, members of the executive committee, all Laval club representatives and volunteers as well as, above all, the players.”
“I would also like to wish the Laval Regional Soccer Association a winning season in 2014,” Rousselle concluded, “and that they continue to experience the success and the accomplishments that have made them the pride of Laval.”
It’s not the first time that Laval has taken home laurels for its soccer prowess. Quebec’s third-largest city has earned the honour twice before, in 2009 and 2011.
Laval has also played host to a number of important national and international soccer matches.
Two members of Comètes de Laval, player Valérie Sanderson and player-coach Cindy Walsh, were also singled out for individual honours, after the team concluded the best season since its formation in 2005.
