Laval police have arrested Bernard
O’Keefe, in L’Étalon, a bar on
Dagenais Boulevard in Fabreville,
Sept. 28.

“Someone recognized him and
called 911 in Laval and said that there
was a guy in the bar who was wanted
by Montreal police for kidnapping,”
said Const. Franco di Genova.

“Patrol officers were dispatched there and he was found inside,” di
Genova continued.

“Officers were deployed both at the
front and at the rear of the premises,
and apprehended him trying to
escape through the back door. After
that, there was no resistance on the
suspect’s part. He was handcuffed and
brought to the Laval detention centre
to await transfer to Montreal police
investigators.”

Montreal police spokesman Daniel
Lacoursière confirmed in an interview that O’Keefe had been sought in
connection with a bizarre kidnapping-assault, involving two
Pierrefonds men, during the weekend
of Sept. 8-9.

He said that another 36-year-old
man, whom he declined to identify,
was arrested around 9 p.m., Sept. 10,
in relation to the same alleged crime.

A news report suggested that
O’Keefe was also wanted in relation to
an alleged incident of fraud of less
than $5,000 in Laval.
