Santa and salsa will mix at a summer social, Sunday, July 21, at Chomedey’s Branch 251 of the Royal Canadian Legion.
“We thought it would be fun to enjoy a yuletide ambience, so we organized a Christmas in July evening,” Legion spokesman Gilles Deschambault told The Suburban.
Branch 251 has invited members and their friends to join in line dancing, cha cha, marimba and waltzes, after they enjoy a traditional French Canadian Christmas dinner that will include tortière meat pie.
“Santa Claus will be there,” beamed Deschambault, who said that the Christmas icon will be presenting small door prizes to guests.
He said that Legion organizers will decorate their hall to reflect the Christmas in July theme.
“Many campgrounds hold similar events in July, and they’re very popular,” Deschambault observed.
“We expect it to popular in Laval, as well.”
“The event will start at 5 p.m., at the Legion hall at 2000 Curé Labelle,” he said. “You can reserve a place by calling 450-681-6722.”
