It was a busy day at the 40th edition of the Laval Blood Drive on Friday, as the annual event successfully beat its target of 850 donations. The event also welcomed a number of special guests, who joined members of the public in giving blood.
The spokespeople for the event included Guy Dassault, director of the Quebec Fire Service, along with his nine-year-old grandson, Gabriel, who has already needed over 20 blood transfusions in his life.
This event was the held from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Centre Sportif and by lunchtime they had already welcomed more than 500 residents to give blood, which was a 25 per cent improvement on the previous year.
