Laval\u2019s regional health authority (ASSS Laval) is promoting new tools that will help make teachers, parents and youth more knowledgeable about human sexuality and the danger of sexually transmitted diseases. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that sexuality is a delicate topic, and the object of a great deal of curiosity, both for young people as well as their parents,\u201d ASSS Laval interim director Dr. \u00c9ric Goyer said in a statement. <\/p>\n

\u201cTalking about sexuality also entails talking about self-acceptance, friendship and love, all within the context of family values,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

He noted that ASSS Laval co-authored all of the province\u2019s online tools aimed at helping parents. The parental modules are among the more than 70 modules that Quebec\u2019s Health Ministry has developed to help improve awareness.<\/p>\n

Currently, all of the online tools that the province has developed are available in French only (ecoleensante.insp.qc.ca\/mosaic.ca<\/a>), save for a link to the French version of sexualityandu.ca<\/a> \u2013 which is published by the Ottawa-based Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada. However, English versions of some of the tools ought to be available soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working on posting English versions of at least some of the tools during the next few weeks,\u201d ASSS Laval spokeswoman St\u00e9phanie Daigneault assured The Suburban. <\/i><\/p>\n
