In 2013, more than 15 pounds of aluminum cans were collected to raise funds for the Joseph-Charbonneau secondary school which focuses on students with mobility impairment and sensory or cognitive disabilities. The fundraiser, led by Laval\u2019s own criminal investigations Sgt.-Det. Fran\u00e7ois-Guy Delisle, will take place again this year. <\/p>\n

The small aluminum pin located at the top of a drink can is pure gold for this group. Pins are collected and then sent to the school to help raise money for various activities. <\/p>\n

Delisle regularly delivers the pins and other aluminum items to the school so children can carry out the sorting, separation and recovery of metal. The objective is to develop independence among young people who live with disabilities and foster their sense of pride as they help raise funds for their activities. Of special importance to the students is raising enough money to travel to the international \u201carm chair rolling\u201d tournament, a sporting event that has taken the students to locations as far away as Atlanta, Vancouver and Paris.<\/p>\n

\nPins can be dropped off at any local police station. <\/p>\n
