The Laval police department sent six members of the ceremonial contingent to the Regimental Funeral service for three RCMP officers killed in a shooting spree Wednesday, June 4 in Moncton, New Brunswick. <\/p>\n

More than 7,000 representatives from the police and peace core from Canada and the United States were present for the ceremony. More than 50 RCMP officers from Quebec traveled to Moncton to attend services. At the Montreal RCMP headquarters the gym was set up with more than 250 chairs and a mega screen for those available to watch the televised event. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis event touches all of us,\u201d explained RCMP Sgt. Corine Cordey media relations for the Montreal division of the RCMP, \u201cit has a huge impact; it doesn\u2019t matter if you are RCMP, S\u00fbret\u00e9 de Qu\u00e9bec<\/i> or SPVM, when something like this happens we are reminded, by the support, that we are one big family.\u201d <\/p>\n

The Laval police department considered it essential that their members were represented to demonstrate their support and commitment to the police community. Having lost members of their own team they understand the pain of their colleagues who continued to risk their lives until the suspect was under arrest.<\/p>\n

An RCMP regimental funeral was held in Moncton on Tuesday, June 10, for Const. Dave Ross, Const. Fabrice Georges Gevaudan, and Const. Douglas James Larche. <\/p>\n

RCMP employees and law enforcement from across Canada participated in a parade to honor the fallen. <\/p>\n
