While no one should expect to see Tommy Lee Jones or Will Smith as their iconic M.I.B. characters patrolling the streets of Pointe Claire anytime soon, the city has changed its municipal security program to its own new M.I.B. (Municipal Inspection Bureau) concept. <\/p>\n

Mayor Morris Trudeau told The Suburban<\/i> that the new program, at no new cost for the taxpayer, is simply building on its public security program with improved training for the personnel who are now more versed in all aspects of the city that include engineering and planning bylaws as well.<\/p>\n

“In the past, if there was an issue of building permit infractions that occurred after regular business hours or on the weekend, the public security officers would have to wait to give a response,” said wait to give a response,” said Trudeau.<\/p>\n

The M.I.B. will be able to deal more promptly with citizens’ concerns and have more available answers in real time for such concerns as “noise complaints, garbage disposal problems, trees felled without permits or commercial vehicles parked in residential areas” noted the city via press release.<\/p>\n

R\u00e9jean Cauchon, the head of the new program, explained that the new program will be working “24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Inspectors are already patrolling the streets of Pointe Claire in new vehicles clearly identified as belonging to the Municipal Inspection Bureau.\u201d<\/p>\n

“The main idea is so that when people call with a question, they can get an answer anytime they need,” noted the mayor.
