Highway 40 at the St. Marie exit in Kirkland has been under construction since summer 2013. The construction according to Kirkland Mayor Michel Gibson will be done by the fall. <\/p>\n

The large bowl like hole in the ground on the service road in front of the Colis\u00e9e movie complex will serve as a catch basin. The construction will continue throughout the summer with no breaks. <\/p>\n

Kirkland will also start repaving St. Charles road from Beaconsfield to Highway 440. \u201cThis will be very inconvenient for our residents but maintaining our road network is a priority,\u201d explained Gibson. <\/p>\n

Kirkland allocates close to $7 million each year to road network maintenance. This year residents can expect to see repairs to Canvin, Bruce, Dragon, Michel, Viger and St. Charles. Kirkland will spend an additional $500,000 on sidewalks this year. <\/p>\n

Resident Jasen Driver, who lives in the Timberlea area of Kirkland, crosses the construction on the 40 everyday to get to work. \u201cAt first I found it inconvenient but then when I thought it over I am happy I live in a town that takes good care of our roads,\u201d Driver told The Suburban<\/i> in an interview.
