Pointe Claire and school boards for safer crosswalk<\/i><\/b>

The crosswalk at Douglas Shand Avenue for John Rennie High School and Pointe Claire Primary School students will be easier and safer to cross with some implementations coming in partnership with the city of Pointe Claire and school boards Lester B. Pearson School and Marguerite-Bourgeoys. <\/p>\n

A fence will be erected along the busy avenue in order to divert students to a new and widened sidewalk. A median will also be added while the current bus shelters will be diverted to a new location.<\/p>\n

For morning and afternoon pick-ups and drop-offs, the two neighbouring schools will share a specified area on a lot connecting both institutions.<\/p>\n

“This drop-off will mean that parents can stop their cars and let their children out in a safer place than at the curb,” explained Principal Roger Galipeau of Pointe Claire School via press release.<\/p>\n

“We are committed to the safety of our citizens, and we ask parents to observe the new signage so that we can protect our youth,” noted Pointe Claire Mayor Morris Trudeau.<\/p>\n

The work has already begun and is slated to finish before the end of the year.
