Laval drug investigators seized nearly 25,000 amphetamine pills during a July 1 police raid on two Laval homes, at 1305 Laurentides, in Pont Viau, and at 20 Piedmont, in Vimont.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe drug squad targeted two people whom they had been investigating for over two months,\u201d Const. Franco di Genova told The Suburban.<\/i> \u201cIt was related to street gangs, and showed how organized those guys are. They were well-structured.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police arrested Pont Viau resident Jean Junot Guerrier and Vimont resident Jean Rodnil Dubois, who appeared in court for a bail hearing on Friday. They also charged a teenage girl whom they found at the Pont Viau home with possession of illegal drugs. Because she is a minor, she cannot be identified publicly.<\/p>\n

Investigators also seized marijuana buds and cocaine during the raids, as well as $10,940 in cash and another $1,200 in counterfeit $100 bills.<\/p>\n

K9 squad finds fleeing fugitive<\/b><\/p>\n

Laval police dog Rika and her handler Const. Powers tracked down a 35-year-old Laval des Rapides resident who attempted to evade patrol officers, June 20. <\/p>\n

\u201cPolice spotted a car headed northbound at very high speed on Labelle at Notre Dame at 2:15 a.m.,\u201d said Const. di Genova. \u201cThe patrol car pursued and witnessed the motorist drive through a red light without stopping. He headed northeast on St. Martin then through the Maxi parking lot. At Chomedey Boulevard and Chateaux he lost control of the vehicle and fled on foot. With dog squad assistance he was apprehended and charged with breach of conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gloved assault suspected <\/b><\/p>\n

On June 21, police responded to a call about a suspicious looking man. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey intercepted the suspect, 31, on foot wearing leather gloves, not far from where a 36-year-old man was found on Hermitage with a bloody face and a possible leg fracture,\u201d reported Const. di Genova. \u201cNot far from him they found a telescopic baton.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThey arrested the suspect for armed assault but they later released him pending charges, because the victim, who is very well known to many police officers on a variety of matters, refused to cooperate with police,\u201d added Sgt. Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Jean.<\/p>\n

Home torched <\/b><\/p>\n

At 5:36 p.m., June 17, three youths were reportedly seen fleeing a residential location at 5054 St. Martin. The house had recently been sold and was vacant, awaiting renovation.<\/p>\n

The same 911 caller called back later to report smoke pouring out the house windows.<\/p>\n

Investigators found that a patio door had been broken into. Damages incurred to the home are estimated at more than $70,000.
