Live Below the Line would like you to try for charity<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n

Do you think it is possible to eat and drink for only $1.75 a day? How about trying that for five consecutive days in a row?<\/p>\n

The worldwide charitable organization Live Below the Line (LBTL) would love for you to try as an act of charity and to raise awareness of the 1.2 billion citizens of the earth who survive (food, shelter, clothing, health, school et cetera) on $1.75 a day.<\/p>\n

This coming Monday, April 27, until Friday, May 1, LBTL is offering a challenge for those who want to see what it is like to live in extreme poverty.<\/p>\n

Since starting this initiative four years ago, over half a million people have taken the challenge, raising $11 million to help fight poverty. The goal is to essentially eat and drink for no more than $8.75 for the entire five day period. LBTL suggest participants partner up to raise their food and drink budget to a whopping $17.50.<\/p>\n

Participants must factor in every item to the penny so that they adhere to the budgetary constraint.<\/p>\n

Cooks who like to augment their food with spices and condiments have to calculate the cost to the gram served. Accepting donated food from friends and family is not allowed but LBTL suggest that if you feel unwell due to the dietary changes, cease the experiment. <\/p>\n

On the agency\u2019s website, there are some wholesome and tasty looking meals that have been broken down to cost per serving. For example, two servings of spaghetti aglio e olio <\/i>works out to 65\u00a2 per serving or how about vegetable and barley soup that serves four at a cost of 70\u00a2 per serving.<\/p>\n
