The city of Pointe Claire has recorded 8,000 ash trees within its territory, half of which are found on public property.<\/p>\n

In an effort to save trees from an emerald ash borer (EAB) infestation, Pointe Claire recently announced that 400 trees throughout the city limits have been treated with TreeAzin. The city is also continuing its assessment of ash trees through inspection as well as planting traps to determine the progress of the EAB that has been found within Pointe Claire\u2019s limits. <\/p>\n

Each treatment provides a couple of years of care for the damaged tree. Pointe Claire has set aside a half a million dollars in its budget to take on the EAB. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are taking these actions to ensure that we are proactive and vigilant in preserving our ash trees,\u201d explained Mayor Morris Trudeau via press release. \u201cOn behalf of council, I want to thank citizens who are taking steps to protect their ash trees and have them treated. We care about quality of life and we think that every preventive gesture deserves to be emphasized. <\/p>\n

\u201cAsh trees treated with the TreeAzin biopesticide will be identified with a poster that will tell citizens about the treatment and emphasize how important it is to treat and protect our ash trees,\u201d noted the mayor. <\/p>\n

The city is also encouraging its residents with unwanted materials taking up space to take part in Saturday\u2019s Ecocentre drop off located at the city\u2019s public works on 50 Terra Cotta.
