City has village on books for change in 2015<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

The newly formed Valois Village Business Association has already held a few meetings and comprises more than 50 members with interest growing daily since its inception last spring. Association president Diane Hodges, owner of the Bramble House in Valois, feels that the time has come for some life to return to \u201cour forgotten village.\u201d <\/p>\n

While the Valois merchants do not begrudge the success of Pointe Claire Village and an eventual plan for revitalization, work needs to be done to return Valois Village to its glory days \u201cwhen it used to be booming,\u201d Hodges told The Suburban.<\/i> \u201cOne of the problems is that the village is not attractive and could use some more plants and benches to liven it up.\u201d <\/p>\n

Hodges and the association feel that particular attention needs to be placed on the now derelict mall that once thrived. \u201cIt has been underdeveloped for so long and is a terrible entrance to the village, sending a sad message,\u201d said the Valois Village Business Association president.<\/p>\n

She did add that the association will be meeting with area Councillor Kelly Thorstad-Cullen on Thursday, Sept. 4 to begin discussions on the village\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

The Suburban<\/i> contacted Councillor Thorstad-Cullen and Mayor Morris Trudeau for statements on the revitalization of Valois Village but was instead called by Marie-Pierre Paquette-Seguin from Pointe Claire\u2019s communications department.<\/p>\n

Paquette-Seguin noted that the revitalization of Valois Village and what to do with the derelict mall will be handled in 2015 \u201cas part of the capital plan for the city. Much like Pointe Claire Village, a village diagnosis will be done before it becomes a Special Planning Program. <\/p>\n

\u201cPointe Claire Village must be completed first and there will be recommendations on how to proceed on that file by the end of August,\u201d said Paquette-Seguin.
