A study out of Texas A&M University has identified a biological pathway that helps to explain the link between coffee and healthier aging<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Researchers say that compounds in coffee might activate NR4A1\u2014a receptor involved in stress response, inflammation. metabolism and tissue repair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robert S. Chapkin, distinguished fellow at the American Society for Nutrition says that it has well-documented positive effects that are \u201c…similar to the Mediterranean diet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Stephen Safe, distinguished professor at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences says that NR4A1 is a \u201cnuclear receptor,\u201d that engages with small molecules in coffee and \u201c…can improve human health and reduce the risk of several chronic diseases of aging.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
