A leading toxicology review has raised new alarm over the everyday use of fragrances, warning that they could expose people to a cocktail of chemicals linked to serious health concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Researchers say that the synthetic chemicals found in perfumes and fragrances may be linked to hormone disruption, reproductive harm, cancer risk and respiratory issues caused by phthalates and volatile organic compounds, which are especially harmful when sprayed near the face or neck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johns Hopkins researcher Neal K. Shah, funded by the National Institute of Health says that ”…fine mist particles travel directly into your airways and end up deep in the lung after bypassing the natural filtering system in one’s nose and throat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He says the high-blood-flow area of the neck, absorbs chemicals faster and more efficiently than anywhere else on the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The study, published in Frontiers in Toxicology<\/a>,<\/em> says that repeated\u2014not occasional\u2014use of the fragrances is the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
