Gas station attendant foils holdup<\/b><\/p>\n

Laval Police are looking for a 55-year-old man who tried to rob a St. Vincent du Paul gas station.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe suspect approached the sales clerk at 830 Vanier holding a plastic bag containing a bottle of beer in his left hand and said \u2018This is a robbery. Give me the money,\u2019\u201d Sgt. Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Jean told The Suburban.<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cThe clerk remained calm and said \u2018No,\u2019\u201d Sgt. Jean continued. \u201cThe suspect replied \u2018I have a gun in my backpack\u2019. The clerk pointed at the security camera behind him and said \u2018If you have a gun, you have to show me, because my boss says that you have to show it to me before I give you money.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe suspect is 5\u20194\u201d tall, weighs 135 lbs and was wearing a read ball cap and red t-shirt and carried a black backpack,\u201d he said, adding that Laval Police plan to seek the public\u2019s help in identifying the alleged perpetrator by posting security camera photos to its Facebook page<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n

Two injured in parking dispute<\/b><\/p>\n

Pierre Olivier Larivi\u00e8re, 27, and Mutraza Hussainy, 23, face assault charges after a parking dispute got out of hand at 5090 Notre Dame, near Highway 13 in Chomedey, Aug. 27.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere had been an ongoing dispute between two tenants,\u201d explained Sgt. Jean. \u201cAt around 2 p.m. that day, [Larivi\u00e8re] was trying to leave with his car but another car was blocking the exit. After he honked, the owner of that vehicle came out of his apartment and an argument ensued. [Larivi\u00e8re] got in his car and tried to move it, hitting the other car lightly.<\/p>\n

Infuriated, [Hussainy], a friend of the owner of the second car, started hitting [Larrivi\u00e8re\u2019s] car with his hands, eventually breaking the windshield. [Larivi\u00e8re] tried to move his car again, this time rolling over Hussainy\u2019s foot.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt that point, [Larivi\u00e8re] got out of his car and brandished a telescopic baton and threatened the owner of the second vehicle and his spouse and and starting hitting their car at least a dozen times with the baton, breaking all windows,\u201d Sgt. Jean said. \u201cAt this point [Hussainy] took some kind of baton and started hitting [Larivi\u00e8re]. At this point [Larivi\u00e8re] started hitting the [unidentified] driver of the second car with his telescopic baton.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter police arrived, they arrested Larivi\u00e8re and Hussainy and arranged to transport the unidentified third person to hospital to treat non-life-threatening wounds,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople should avoid coming to blows. If they\u2019re having trouble communicating, it\u2019s better to contact Laval Police,\u201d Sgt. Jean concluded. \u201cIf it\u2019s a criminal matter we\u2019ll take care of it. Sometimes, if it\u2019s just a city bylaw that\u2019s in dispute, we can either apply it or guide them toward a solution through the courts or a city department. Above all, please don\u2019t get into a physical confrontation that risks injury and criminal charges.\u201d
