Remote work is very popular, but a study in the journal Science<\/em> says that it makes workers more socially isolated, anxious and depressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Author Natalia Emanuel, economist at Federal Reserve Bank of New York, says that the hours people spend alone affects their mental health and results in more visits to mental health professionals to set right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicholas Epley, professor of behavioural science at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, says that while it’s easy to recognize that the daily commute in traffic can suck, compared to missed social connections at work, there is a large negative impact down the road: that people \u201cunderestimate how well things are when they connect to others in the workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
