An experimental medication has been shown to relieve pain in early studies, without the risk of addiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Institute on Drug Abuse says nitazenes<\/a>, a class of synthetic opioid compounds are a dangerous group of drugs that have no medical value and are highly addictive\u2014hundreds or thousands of times more potent than morphine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Nora D. Volkow, director of the United States’ National Institute of Health<\/a>, says that the team created a drug called DFNZ\u2014a derivative of nitazene<\/a>\u2014which can provide at least two hours of pain relief after 5-10 minutes in the system, and does not appear to have any of the serious risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Findings are reported in the journal Nature<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
