October is breast cancer awareness month<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness month and to get things rolling a bit early this year Novartis Pharmaceuticals Canada welcomed the Vir\u00e9e Rose cancer awareness bus as employees arrived in completion of their 10th annual Ride for Life, a long-distance cycling event that has raised almost $1 million for breast cancer research over the past decade. <\/p>\n

This year, the riders were greeted with a ceremony where an announcement was made that they had raised $151,000 for the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation. <\/p>\n

The big pink breast cancer tour bus was also on hand to spread awareness. La Vir\u00e9e Rose tour bus is the first of its kind in Quebec. The province-wide education and awareness-raising tour known as La Vir\u00e9e Rose has been hard at work this past summer traveling from community to community spreading the good word. <\/p>\n

The initiative is dedicated to helping women take charge of their breast health. The Foundation hopes this unique tour will reach thousands of women in all corners of the province. <\/p>\n

One in nine women will have breast cancer at least once in her lifetime. The Foundation firmly believes that all women are capable of taking their breast health into their own hands. Yet, only 22 percent of women do so on a regular basis. <\/p>\n

The initiative is dedicated to helping women take charge of their breast health. The Foundation hopes this unique tour will reach thousands of women in all corners of the province.<\/p>\n

Women are invited aboard a specially equipped RV for an informative, interactive, experience that will take no longer than a coffee break. In the RV, there are a variety of resources that will equip women with the information and tools needed to actively look after breast health. There is also an opportunity to talk with the foundation\u2019s breast-health ambassadors, who are on hand to answer questions. <\/p>\n
