Wednesday, October 8, the Southwest United Church and Mission will hold a 5 \u00e0 7 for all the community groups that serve English-speaking residents in Verdun. <\/p>\n

\u201cBring your own brochure and learn what everyone is doing for our community,\u201d says the invitation and poster. \u201cLet\u2019s all talk about how we can serve our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Entitled \u201cOne Stop Shopping,\u201d the meeting takes place at the Mission in Verdun Elementary School at the corner of Melrose and Verdun Avenue. (The Southwest United Church and Mission operates from two locations\u2014the Mission and their church on Clemenceau in Crawford Park.) The day is a pick-up day in which 150 families collect Good Food Boxes of fresh food, so participants will see the program in action.<\/p>\n

Attendees will include the Manna Food Bank, organizers of the Breakfast Club and the Good Food Box, a local growing cooperative and many more organizations. It\u2019s a great chance to celebrate successful projects and continue growing together.<\/p>\n

The evening is an extremely busy one for Verdun community groups.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, some of the attendees will be heading to Dawson Community Centre to catch the last part of Un plant de tomate \u00e0 la fois\u2019s<\/i> season-end harvest party, which takes place from 5:30 until 8 p.m.<\/p>\n

Others will go to CEGEP Laurendeau to discuss a strategic plan for the St. Lawrence River Angrignon Park corridor. That meeting starts at 7 p.m. and continues until at least 9:30 p.m.
