While the city of Dollard des Ormeaux has bylaw for companies displaying outdoor signs regarding size, length, shape and use of lighting, resident Darryl Levine would like to see the city encourage any new businesses with signs to be bilingual. <\/p>\n
A homeowner for the last six years, Levine would like to see the city request that the companies and businesses signage \u201creflect the demographics of our municipality and display their message in both official languages.\u201d<\/p>\n

Levine noted that the city of C\u00f4te St. Luc employs the same practice, one Levine would like to see DDO replicate. He contacted Mayor Ed Janiszewski and was told that \u201cthe idea would be discussed in a future agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n
Levine realized he had an idea that was shared by other residents when he received a number of positive affirmations on the topic post sharing it on the \u2018Unofficial Dollard des Ormeaux\u2019 Facebook page that he launched within the last month. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe city has a website but no Facebook presence so I started something to give people an opportunity to take part in an open discussion forum,\u201d Levine told The Suburban.<\/i> \u201cIt is a place for information and not a confrontational site.\u201d <\/p>\n
He has also used the page as news aggregator for all things Dollard including a recent posting about a suspicious woman moving around various parts of the city illegally soliciting funds by going to door to door misrepresenting charitable organizations. <\/p>\n
The Suburban<\/i> left a message for Mayor Janiszewski but did not hear back by press time.
