Event to benefit Robotics team<\/i><\/b>

MacDonald High School, in Ste. Anne de Bellevue was overthrown by 80 zombies Saturday evening, Oct. 25, for the third installment of the Zombie Apocalypse. <\/p>\n

The Zombie Apocalypse is a fundraiser for the school\u2019s robotics team. This event is held in order to collect money for the supplies needed for the annual Canadian Robotics Competition. <\/p>\n

The event is the brainchild of Social Science teacher, Ted Duckworth, and Science lab technician, Al Dornan, who, together, coordinate the robotics team. <\/p>\n

The experience takes place during a zombie apocalypse. The school is overrun with zombies. The goal is making your way to the evacuation zone untouched, avoiding the zombies, and thus evading infection. The origin of the virus is unknown. Citizens are evacuated, but the situation is not easy to handle. <\/p>\n

The virus is transmitted by contact with the zombies, making it imperative to avoid them. An evacuation zone is reached where one is checked for contamination. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis charity performance goes a long way in obtaining the amount needed to support the team. We have 200 tickets pre-sold, so we are off to a good start,\u201d Duckworth told The Suburban.<\/i> <\/p>\n

The department has an operating budget of $10,000 and students also bag groceries at a local grocery store in achieving this goal. <\/p>\n

The team\u2019s chief responsibility is to build a robot, and to create a kiosk, video, journal, and a website. <\/p>\n
