Following the two killings that took place last week of Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent in St. Jean sur Richelieu and Corporal Nathan Cirillo in Ottawa, Lachine Mayor Dauphin offered the following condolences on behalf of the residents of the borough. <\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to offer my condolences to the victims\u2019 families,\u201d the mayor stated. \u201cMy thoughts and prayers are with them. I also share the feelings of grief expressed by Michel Fecteau and Jim Watson, the mayors of those two cities, whom I had the opportunity to associate with in the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.\u201d <\/p>\n

The mayor also expressed his relief in knowing that area MP Isabelle Morin, her colleagues and all members of Parliament who were present during the ordeal and subsequent lockdown, were \u201csafe and sound.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI would also like to make special mention of the excellent work done by the security staff, the police and, of course, Kevin Vickers, the Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Commons, for their courage and professionalism during these distressing events,\u201d said Dauphin. <\/p>\n

\u201cOur thoughts are with you,\u201d said Dauphin in regards to the families of Vincent and Cirillo. <\/p>\n

And despite the horrific events of last week, the Lachine mayor noted how fortunate Canadians are to live in \u201ca country where peace and freedom prevail, and I sincerely believe that we must now more than ever continue along this road so that these values are preserved.\u201d
