Police will be keeping a close lookout for car and pedestrian infractions at key Laval intersections, to try to reduce the risk of accidents there.<\/p>\n

Laval Police have identified which of the city\u2019s arteries are the most accident-prone.<\/p>\n

\u201cStreets that intersect with large boulevards like St. Martin, Labelle, Laurentian and Concorde are where pedestrians are most likely to be injured by motorists,\u201d said Sgt. Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Jean.<\/p>\n

\u201cFortunately, most of these accidents are preventable,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn order to reduce the number of accidents, we intend to maintain an proactive presence there, and encourage pedestrians to stick to marked crosswalks,\u201d Sgt. Jean continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also intend to ensure that motorists respect the rules that oblige them to cede the right of way to pedestrians,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

Buses, biking and walking are two of the alternatives that the city\u2019s wants citizens to consider, as actively encourages them to choose viable alternatives to their cars when they want to get around Laval.<\/p>\n

  • St. Martin and McNamara<\/li>\n
  • Cur\u00e9 Labelle and Samson<\/li>\n
  • De la Concorde and 12th<\/li>\n
  • St. Martin and le Corbusier<\/li>\n
  • Souvenir and de l\u2019Avenir<\/li>\n
  • Carrefour and Terry Fox<\/li>\n
  • Laurentian and Cartier (near the Cartier metro station)<\/li>\n
  • De l\u2019Avenir and Jacques T\u00e9trault<\/li>\n
  • De l\u2019Avenir and the Montmorency terminal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
